What is a Dental Crown?

 A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap. Dentists use crowns to restore weak, broken or decayed teeth. A crown fits over your entire tooth, like a snug hat. Crowns are crafted from a variety of materials, including resin, metal and porcelain.

• Strengthen a weak tooth.
• Protect and support a cracked tooth.
• Restore a worn-down or broken tooth.
• Hold a dental bridge in place.
• Cover a severely stained or discolored tooth.
• Cover a root canal-treated tooth.
• Cover a dental implant.

The entire process of creating a dental crown is about 3-4 weeks.

- Your first appointment with Dr. Moffett will be a consultation to exam your tooth and ensure that it is a proper candidate for a crown. 

- Next, you will come in for a longer appointment where Dr. Moffett will prep your tooth.  A scan of the prepared tooth is taken as well as photos for color matching, which will all be sent to a dental lab to create your crown. 

-  In certain circumstances, a temporary crown may be placed while the permanent crown is being made. 

- Once we receive your crown from the lab, we will book you in for your final appointment to have your crown fitted and cemented in place.
